Advocate for Air Force Service Members and Veterans

Sharon has spent years dedicating her skills to advocating for the veterans in her community. She served for 15 years as a civilian attorney for the United States Air Force Judge Advocate General (J.A.G) Department. She is also a Managing Attorney at the Community Justice Foundation, where she provides pro bono legal services to citizens and veterans in and around Bexar County. She is a proud leader and encourager to the many volunteer attorneys, judges, paralegals and law students who in 2019, donated over 2,000 hours of free legal services — around half a million dollars in legal expenses.

Servant Leader

Sharon is a servant leader to ministries in her community.  She has served as a member of the Board of Directors at Daily Bread Ministries and a legal advisor to the Board of Directors at New Creation Christian Fellowship.  Sharon’s husband Bryan is Lead Pastor at Life Change Church (formerly, Community Bible Church at Brooks City Base and Highland Park).  She has served with Bryan as an Executive Pastor and had responsibility for the oversight of church business and legal matters.

True to Texas

Sharon’s election to Congress will not be the first time she’s served the Great State of Texas.

In 2013, former Governor Rick Perry appointed Sharon to lead the Civil Rights Division of the Texas Workforce Division on the Texas Commission on Human Rights (TCHR) in matters relating to fair employment practices and housing law. In 2017, Governor Greg Abbott called upon Sharon again, this time to serve on the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE). Her work with the Commission has set the standard to ensure Texans are served by the most highly trained and ethical law enforcement and corrections personnel.

Accomplished Attorney

Sharon received both her undergraduate and law degrees from St. Mary’s University in 1985 where she remained active as a former member of the Board of Trustees, as well as the President of the St. Mary’s University School of Law Alumni Association.

In 2002, Sharon opened her private practice, Breckenridge Thomas Law Offices focusing on non-profit and business law, as well as labor and employment law, for which she is certified by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. Sharon’s expertise, coupled with her heart for service and desire to offer her legal talents to better her community, led her to open City Centre Law, Inc. in 2016, a non-profit law firm that provides pro bono legal services to businesses or non-profits that work to eradicate poverty.

Internationally Recognized

Sharon has an accomplished resume not only in Texas, but also on an international scale. She speaks on labor and humanitarian issues across the globe and has published papers in numerous countries on the subject. She is a Fellow for the Center for International Legal Studies in Austria, as well as a member of the International Bar Association.

Teacher and Mentor

Sharon is a firm believer in investing in the next generation. For over a decade, she has taught various law courses at universities throughout the region and beyond including the USAF J.A.G. School’s Dickinson Law Center, the University of Texas at San Antonio Institute of Law and Public Affairs and the College of Business, Liberty University School of Law in Virginia, and her alma mater, St. Mary’s University School of Law.  She currently teaches in the College of Business at Trinity University.

Wife and Mother

Sharon and Bryan have been married for more than 30 years.  They are proud parents of three adult children and two adorable grandsons. Sharon is the daughter of the late Nathaniel D. Breckenridge (AF Ret.) and Mabel Martin Breckenridge.
